Desert Swing'n Dixie Jazz Festival 2007

Come join us for the

Swing 'n Dixie Jazz Festival--March 9, 10 & 11, 2007
The Dixieland Jazz Society of the Desert invites you to three fun-filled days and nights featuring some of the finest Swing Jazz and Dixieland bands in the country. We now have three venues that will feature great music and dancing, The Mizell Senior Center, The Boys & Girls Club and the Palm Springs Pavilion, all located within walking distance of each other.
Registration begins 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Mizell Senior Center with the sounds of the Titanic Jazz Band starting at 3 p.m. on the performance stage.
Jim Kirwin and friends will perform a special concert on Friday at 3 p.m. for The Boys & Girls Club with band members participating in musical instrument demonstrations following the concert.
A Welcome Kick-Off at The Pavilion with Palm Springs Mayor Ron Oden, Festival Director Johnny Meza and DJSD President Lola Rossi at 6 p.m. featuring Barbary Coast with continuous entertainment at all three venues until 11 p.m.
A special two hour concert on Saturday night showcasing the Jazz bands of Palm Springs High School and Cathedral City High School along with pianist/vocalist Yve Evans, studio legend Carol Kaye and the Desert Cities Jazz Band, will be presented at the Palm Springs High School Auditorium. Admission is $20 doors open at 6 p.m.
The Sunday morning Hymn-A-Long featuring the Night Blooming Jazzmen will be presented at the Palm Springs High School Auditorium. Doors open at 9 a.m. The music begins at 10 a.m. World famous entertainer Buddy Greco and his wife, vocalist Leslie Anders, will perform at 11:15 a.m. followed by the Scholarship Cash Raffle Drawing at 11:35 a.m.
Plus a "Members Only" late night speakeasy at Club Trinidad featuring Gordon Parr's Dixiecats on Friday night and Dick Broadie and The Unusual Suspects on Saturday night.
Important Notice
The "Swing at Seven" dinner dance scheduled for Friday evening March 9, featuring the Mike Henebry Orchestra was cancelled due to low response. Those of you who purchased tickets to this event will receive a refund in the mail.
